Jody Swain
Project Director

Finding common ground and fostering a cohesive working relationship between board members, volunteers, staff and local community leaders is where Jody shines.

Jody consistently adds value through his tenacious dedication to solving challenging fundraising issues. His background in leadership positions with several non-profits and his economic development acumen allow him to help clients, their stakeholders, and the communities he serves see the big picture —not merely the fundraising component.

Jody has had a diverse range of management, fundraising, and community engagement positions with public, nonprofit, and for-profit organizations. He has played key roles in the supervision, planning, and successful implementation of projects requiring working with corporate decision-makers, committees, boards, foundations, volunteers, political leaders, and community groups. These managed processes have included fluid components involving: annual fundraising, feasibility studies, capital campaigns, return on investment, business / corporate involvement,
organizational image, public relations, investor relationships, program implementation, and volunteer involvement.

Jody’s NCDS experience ranges from big wins in small communities such as Logan, UT to campaigns to fund urgent economic development programs for flagship clients like the Hampton Roads (VA) Economic Development Alliance and the Mobile (AL) Chamber of Commerce.

Jody attended George Mason University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work. Originally, from Washington State, Jody grew up on a dairy farm about fifty miles south of Seattle, in the shadow of Mt. Rainier. Currently, Jody and his wife, Kate, reside in Charlotte, North Carolina. Where possible, Jody tries to get personally involved with causes that strive to meet the identifiable needs of the local community.
