Southeast Technical Institute is launching its first-ever capital fundraising campaign at the same time the public institution is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
And the funding is not centered around new construction.
The $6.2 million, five-year campaign is meant to bring in more potential students and produce a greater number of skilled graduates to meet the demands of the Sioux Falls workforce, Southeast Tech spokeswoman Margaret Pennock said.
Southeast Tech's NOW (New Opportunities for Workforce Development) Capital Campaign was officially announced by school officials at a press conference.
"This is a historic day for Southeast Tech," President Bob Griggs said. "While we recognize the success of our past, we also need to recognize the promise of tomorrow."
