Alan Long brings NCDS clients an impressive combination of fundraising and not-for-profit organizational management skills. He was even a customer of NCDS while serving as an executive of the Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce.
Alan’s campaign successes include a $14.8 million private/public funding effort for the Greater Richmond Partnership in Richmond, VA and a $2.8 million economic development effort for the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce in Murfreesboro, TN. Both of these campaigns significantly exceeded their campaign goals – on time and under budget!
Prior to joining NCDS, Alan earned his stripes with over 20 years of chamber of commerce and economic development experience. He began his career in the late ‘70s as Manager of Public Affairs with the Chamber in Macon, Georgia. In the mid ‘80s, Alan rose to President of the Chamber in Laurinburg, North Carolina. A few years later, he began a seven-year tenure as President of the Chamber in Conyers, Georgia.
Through the ‘90s, Alan deepened his economic development experiences by serving as President of the Chamber in DeKalb County, Georgia, and as Senior Vice President for the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.
Alan earned a B.S. degree from Georgia Southern College and a M.P.A. from Georgia College. He is a graduate of the U.S. Chamber Institute for Organizational Management as well as the Academy for Organizational Management. In 1991, Alan earned certification as a Certified Chamber Executive (CCE).
Alan and his wife Carol currently reside in Conyers, Georgia, with their three sons. Alan enjoys cooking and many outdoor activities such as fishing, hiking, and camping.
