About NCDS ProCall®

Interview with Tom DiFiore, President

A cornerstone of our success is NCDS ProCall, a proven proprietary campaign method that consistently outperforms the purely volunteer method because every NCDS ProCall is a professional call.

Q Briefly, what exactly is NCDS ProCall?
A Our professional Project Directors relieve volunteer leaders of the task of making fundraising solicitation calls. We do the asking. Simple as that.

Q Why would an organization want to let their best volunteer leaders off the hook? Their buy-in and involvement in programs is as important as their money, isn't it?
A

Buy-in and commitment are not diminished with ProCall. Top leaders always "own" the program and the funding process. Our function with ProCall is to make absolutely certain that a powerful solicitation is made and then followed up until closure. That allows leaders time to strategize and lend credibility instead of getting tied up asking for money.

Q What prompted NCDS to start doing ProCall campaigns?
A Times have changed. Nowadays, every business executive is stretched to the limit on time and people available for civic activities. They are just having to say "no" to the flood of demands on their time. They still care and want to do their part, but asking others for money is one chore they would rather avoid. NCDS ProCall has responded to that trend. I must add that business leaders are really pleased that we can handle their campaigns this way.

Q Here's a tough one: does ProCall work as well as having volunteers do the work?
A It works better! Surprising, right? The reason is that our Project Directors are not only skilled in community and economic development, they know how to make a fundraising call. They prepare well and they research every prospect. And, probably most vital, they aren't afraid to ask for the big dollars.

Q Any other "secrets" to ProCall's success as a campaign strategy?
A Well, there are a few critical ingredients that I wouldn't call "secrets," but they are absolutely critical. Those ingredients are "buy-in" and "commitment." We always make sure there is a process through which a community's top leaders determine what needs to be done, what it should cost and how it should be accomplished. We usually drive that process as Phase I of our work with clients. We call this Program Development & Goals Assessment. We do that properly, and raising the money is a natural by-product.

Q Tell me about the credentials of the staff you provide to your clients.
A Our Project Directors are extremely focused and professional. They each bring a diverse background and a strong work ethic to every campaign. We have several who have been practicing attorneys, others with advanced business degrees, and all have received thorough NCDS training. We are very proud of the caliber of individuals serving as Project Directors in all of our campaigns. You will like our staff, and so will your leaders.

Q Any final comments on ProCall?
A It's a strategy that's right for the times. Look at the campaign results. ProCall works.
